Mr. Tadiwa Gumbwa
Dedicated to redefining modern oral appliance hygiene through rigorous clinical integration and automated care, Tadiwa Gumbwa, Founder and CEO of Muromo, combines award winning engineering expertise with a deeply personal mission. Holding a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering (First Division 2:1) from Anglia Ruskin University, where he was awarded the CMB Technical Mechanical Engineering Prize for academic excellence, Tadiwa has built his career around designing innovative, reliable engineering systems that solve real world problems.
His leadership extends beyond academia. As Mechanical Design Team Leader for the IMechE Railway Challenge, he led the engineering design team to victory in the national CAD Challenge, demonstrating his ability to guide multidisciplinary teams from concept through manufacture while delivering innovative engineering solutions under demanding constraints.
Before founding Muromo, Tadiwa gained experience across mechanical design, systems engineering, robotics, and medical manufacturing, working with organisations including Huxley Bertram, Adiuvo, and Cambridge Pharma. These experiences shaped his systems thinking approach and reinforced the importance of designing products that are not only technically robust but also practical for everyday users.
Muromo was born from personal experience. Like millions of oral appliance users, Tadiwa encountered the frustration of trying to properly clean, dry, and store his night guard using fragmented methods that often left appliances damp, unhygienic, or vulnerable to premature deterioration. Experiencing this problem firsthand created a powerful personal incentive to engineer a better solution not simply another cleaning device, but an integrated maintenance system that supports both patients and dental professionals.
Today, his vision is to bridge the gap between professional dental care and daily patient compliance by delivering a clinically informed maintenance ecosystem that protects oral appliances, promotes long-term hygiene, and improves treatment outcomes through thoughtful engineering and evidence led design
